Youth pledge

The Youth Pledge ( the beauty of diversity ) is a major milestone in the history of Indonesian independence, was made by the second Youth Congress, on October 27 and 28, 1928 in Jakarta. Activated by the patriot development of that time, the Youth Congress was a huge in the side of the pilgrim Dutch.

What is the content of the Youth Pledge?

Some segments of the Youth Pledge expresses that the Second Youth Congress are Indonesian youngsters and young ladies with one country, one nation, and one language, Indonesian.

History 

It was 89 years ago on October 28, 1928, when 71 youthful patriots over the archipelago accumulated in a congress to make a commitment of solidarity under the declaration "One country, One nation, One language; Indonesia." It is known as "SumpahPemuda", which means The Youth Pledge.

It all started when student scholar organisations across the nation did not feel that it was enough to have individual organization that only wanted to push forward agendas that only benefit their own ethnicity, territory and religion. The issue of equality rights, freedom and independence was yet to be the main conversation. Youth scholars wanted Indonesia to be a country that is free from Dutch occupation.

Later, the participate of student scholar decided to make a congress.

The first congress was heald on 30 april 1926-2 may 1926

The purpose of the congress:

Combining scholar organisations across Indonesia to push the unity of the nation

How it went:  - Agreed that Indonesia have to unite as a nation 

- All youth and scholar organisation were unified ( PPPI), wich is translated to the United Indonesian Scholar Organisation.

Second youth congress ( 27-28 October 1928) 

Outcome:

- The Youth Pledge

- Indonesia Raya as the national anthem

- The Bendera Merah Putih as the national flag

- All youth organisation to be combined as Indonesian Youth
